NSSRA Applauds SIA Decision To Keep Late-January Trade Show Dates
Program Is Designed To Increase Store Traffic While Offering Customers an Easy Way To Ship Their Gear

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL (May 20, 2016) -- The National Ski & Snowboard Retailers Association (NSSRA) applauds and thanks the SnowSports Industries America (SIA) Board of Directors and President Nick Sargent for re-examining the trade show schedule and returning to the late January dates which have become the preferred dates among specialty snow sports retailers.
After SIA announced that it would move its trade show from late January to early December beginning in 2017, specialty retailers, led by NSSRA and its Board of Directors, expressed their strong preference for the late-January dates.

“We polled our members, and they made it clear that a December trade show was not in their best interests or the best interests of the industry as a whole,” said NSSRA Chairman of the Board Wilbur Rice, Equipe Sport, Rawsonville, VT. “We want to thank SIA President Nick Sargent, SIA Chairman Bob Gundram and the SIA Board for listening to the specialty retail community and making a decision that benefits the whole industry.

“We wholeheartedly support this decision and urge all NSSRA members to show their support by attending the SIA Snow Show,” Rice said. “This is another example of how the snow sports industry can solve its issues through constructive dialogue.

“NSSRA will continue to address issues affecting specialty snow sports retailers in this manner, with the expectation that we will arrive at solutions that make sense for everyone,” Rice added.

Dates for the upcoming seasons’ Shows are scheduled as follows:
  • 2017 Snow Show: January 26-29, 2017 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver Colorado
  • 2017 On-Snow Demo: January 30-31, 2017 at Copper Mountain
  • 2018 Snow show: January 25-28, 2018 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado
  • 2018 On-Snow Demo: January 29-30, 2018 at Copper Mountain
